I used to use Rotella T in my Cummins diesel--3 gallons per oil change. I believe all the Rotella oils are designed for diesels--mainly semi trucks and marine use so they can withstand extreme heat.

Be sure you use the correct weight. Pretty sure they are SM rated oil. I use AMS oil myself.

A few of the longtime posters over at Volvospeed love it for the turbo cars, the 5w-40.

It's amazing oil (great specs), and cheap ($21/gal at Walmart). It is rated for gasoline engines. Link to some more information.

Search on "bobistheoilguy.com". They have a lot of good things to say about it. I run it in my '90 240, and use German Castrol in the V70.

Old thread I know..... I have used Rotella T6 for many years in all of our cars. I buy cars with 100K on the clock and drive them for a long time. Most of our stuff has close to 200K or over and I have never had an oil related failure of any kind. As a matter of fact I have never had a problem linked to an oil issue. I had my mechanic replace a leaky FSS sensor (oil monitor) on the ML320 which required removing the inspection cover (small portion of the oil pan). He was amazed at how clean the inside of the engine was which says a lot since he was a MB dealership mechanic for 30 years and has seen his share of sludged up V6 Mercedes over the years.

Almost forgot to mention that I change the oil in all of these at 10K and sometimes over.

2002 ML320: 280K used hard, towing 4500# at 80mph for hours on end, offroad, sitting idling you get the point
1995 E300D #1: 490K sales vehicle
1995 E300D #2: 188K sales vehicle
2003 XC90 T6: 195K, rebuilt trans.
2001 Z3: 130K
1999 CLK320: 185K

Needless to say the 2008 V70 3.2L I bought this week with 137K miles on it will get T6 at 140K and from then on.

Interesting. I've never used it but I'm willing to try it. Is the Rotella synthetic? And are you guys using the diesel oil version or is there a non diesel version?

I've been using it a few years now. First just in the turbo cars, now for simplicity I have switched them all over. I have seen 0w-40 and 5w-40 on the shelf around here; there may be other weights. They make a T5 that is semi-synthetic but yes, the T6 is a full synthetic.

Also, save $5 a gallon: http://rotella.shell.com/promotions/sav ... allon.html

You can;t buy it form Walmart and get the rebate, but it's the same (cheap) price at Menard's.
