1986 240 Wheel Size: Biggest possible wheel?

Post by CLopes »

I just recently picked up an '86 240 with 78K original miles and I've begun to install a full suspension kit (iPd anti-sway bars, Bilstein struts with EPI springs, and new bushings) and I was wondering what the largest tire and wheel size I can fit on the car would be.
I read on turbobricks that 225/45/r17 was the largest wheel you could fit but i also read somewhere that 225/40/r18 was the largest wheel you could fit.
I have a set of 35mm adapters (5x108 to 5x114.3) and I found a nice set of wheels and tires that are 225/40/r18 and I would like to be sure of the fitment before I buy them.
Thanks ahead of time to anyone that replies :D

What size spacers are you running with the 225/40r18's?

He says (turbobrick member) - The wheels are et38 with the standard bmw bolt pattern. the adapters are 28mm up front with 32mm out back. I got my adapters from Fred. The fit is perfect front and back. Towery really knows what he is talking about with wheel offsets and what will fit.

Thank you very much for the information!
By the way, who is Fred and how can I get in touch with him?
