Great write up, has me wanting to tackle my 'noids. Haha!
My 94 wagon is approaching the 200k Mark, and the lockup solenoid seems to not work. Rpm's stay close to 3k on the highway at 70. Where under the cover is the lockup noid, or does one of the others pull double duty?

That's a good question. In the picture above that I posted showing S1 and S2 there's a third solenoid at the bottom. I'm guessing that must be the lock up. I don't see any other solenoids there and I know lock up is a separate unit.

Its coming tomorrow, so if you can wait over the weekend I can't let you know if that solenoid works, after I install it.

Trans parts direct is where I bought my solenoid. Never found the receipt, but recognize the site/link

So Im at the point where I need to remove the ATF cooler line from transmission pan cover. There are two bolts, one on top of the other. Which one do I undo to remove the hose? I've tried both and neither is moving. PB Blaster and a torch don't seem to have helped much. Any advice?

Wow.

I really shouldn't be allowed to work on cars. Can't believe I didn't think of that.

Good news! I got the S2 and lock up solenoids replaced and everything put back together.

Bad news! My gasket paper did not work at all and I'm leaking ATF like a sieve. Looks like I'm going to have to drop the subframe and use RTV after all. Such is life. And for what its worth, my S1 solenoid is one of the later ones; it is different than the S2.

I just replaced my s2 and lock up also, All is working perfectly thus far.

Also got all parts from trans parts direct.

I also used gasket paper, Ive had no problems thus far.
This is the Gasket paper I used.

I really hope I don't get a leak in the future, that would suck so much.
