2001 V40 Front Rear Engine Mount Placement

Post by VolvoV40_2001 »

Hello collective intel.

Hoping someone could point me to an image of the placement of the front and rear engine mounts relative to car (these would be engine left and right relative to the engine). Or, just tell me which way they are meant to face.

Here is an image of the current front mount. Note the long gap between the rubber (the larger circle) is toward the back of the car and the hole in the bracket (small circle) is pointing toward the front of the car.

I noticed by hance that on this image it is facing the other way

Does anyone know which is the correct way for it to face?

Here is the current rear mount. Is this the correct orientation or should it be the other way around?

I found the image in this thread (4th post down) which would have been perfect except it has the rubber isolators covering the mount.

Currently there is no rubber isolator on our rear mount. Should there be?

Thank you for your guidance.

Actually the VIDA program has the answer. Missed it the first time.

For the front mount

Install:
 the engine
mounting.
Position the hole
against the front
of the car

and for the rear
Install:
 the engine mounting with the
hole pointing backwards

In each case there is a hole in the mount curve as well as in the mount metal bracket it is encased in. Those holes line up and are oriented as per above.
