1997 855AWD Brake Kit Selection?

Good morning folks, I am trying to buy a complete brake kit for my 1997 AWD 850 turbo 5 speed wagon. When I contacted FCP about their kit, VBBRAKEKIT3, they tell me the front "might" work but the rear would not due to my chassis being the same as a 1998-2000 series 70AWD model?

I can confirm my rotors are 11" 288mm and not 302mm........any ideas? Thanks.

They are correct. The rear brakes are very different on the AWD cars. The 1997 AWD is a bit of an orphan in the parts world but it is the same as the 98-00 70 series AWD on the rear. The front brakes on my XC have the smaller rotors so that should be the same if you are doing a kit.

Personally, I'm not real fond of the "Kits" on anything except stuff like the OEM timing belt kits. The vendors never seem to blend my preferences for parts into one package but they do make it convenient.

Thanks for that Lee, so basically if I order brake shoes and rotors for the front as 1997 850 and rear for a 1998 70 series AWD I should be good to go?

You should be. Check the part numbers for the fronts, my bet is that they are the same for the '97 and the '98 but I have never really checked the numbers myself.

Had a 98 V70XC, and fitted prop-shaft and viscous coupling from a 97 850 AWD manual. What research I did at the time showed early V70 XC/AWD were the same underneath as an 850 AWD.

Front brakes were 280mm, and rears are all the same I believe for AWD models except possibly 'R' models. 302mm won't fit in a 15" rim.

The rear pads on the awd are the same as the 960 so are the calipers.
