If I had a larger garage, I could have more Volvos.

OK, last thing before I get started is knowing the actual mileage so I can put it right on the odo...but now I do not know how to do that. Is it possible from the OBD? Do I have to go to Volvo dealer only? Or maybe it is not possible at all on 97 year model?

Thanks for advice.

It is pretty much a dealer only thing after '95. An independent shop that has a Volvo scan tool can also do it. The problem is that most of them, dealer service departments included, don't know how to find it in the menu. It must be buried pretty deep in the menu tree.

 ...how frustrating. I have just got back from the Volvo dealer and he connected his Volvo scanner. Nothing came up in the main menu and he said it was not possible. I mentioned that on the forum people say it is possible to interpret certain codes and he said these older cars were not networked blah blah blah (I gave up listening at this point).

Thank goodness for forums like these as the "specialists" obviously can not be trusted :(

Hi. After replacing the the gear and putting back the cluster, I realized when driving in the dark, that the 3rd in a row from left to right light behind the cluster doesnt work (even though it worked before), and the speedo needle is way more faded (has minimum light) than the others. Also, the tracs light doesnt come on, although I swapped it with another one, it still doesnt go on. Any thoughts/help will be appreciated.

I replace all of the lamps, working or not, when I repair the gear anymore. The amount of jostling getting the cluster in and out will break the filament on used bulbs about half of the time. I had similar issues when I changed the gear on my first 850.

The main lamps are easy, any auto parts store will have them, but the smaller lamps are tougher to find. I think Robert (member name RSPI) sells the warning lights for considerably less than a dealership.

tzanis, I'm not sure if your '97 has an option to reset your service reminder light, but my '96 did not, so I pulled that bulb when I replaced my odo. gear. Just a thought.
