1999 s80 Won't start

Hello,

I have a older 1999 Volvo s80 T6 that won't start. I put the key in and all lights come on and air con, On the dash, it shows a "-" for the gear. I'm able to move the gears only if my foot is on the break. When I crank the key to start the engine, I hear a click and my headlights are off until I let go.

I've heard that this could be a starter issue, immobilizer or possibly fuses. I've changed out the Ignition switch and relay for extended X feed fuses. I've also tried jumping the car, to no avail. I doubt its the battery since all lights turn on and air con does too.

Notes: I am fairly certain I only have the Valet key. Key fob lost.
Please help!

FYI, Warning lamp is usually Orange, except when door is open, then its Red.

The first thing I would do is clean the battery cables. Also the cable ends that are on the left side of the car by the strut tower and the starter. Dirt and corrosion gather at these points and muddy up the works. start with the basics.

I assume you mean the battery ends that lead to the battery in the trunk. Now just to find the strut tower/starter. I will keep you posted. I'm a newb...

Perhaps a code read would help shed some light on the situation.

Vida/Dice or equivalent would be ideal. Many codes don't show up on OBDII scan tools yet will still be set by the modules in your car.
