I am not sure what is going on, it happens every time the car is started. It lasts about 6-9 seconds and then does not happen again when car is running. On a long trip it has reared it's head about once or twice while running. I have read this forum well and am not sure if it is the Blend door actuator. I can turn off ac when it is making the noise and it stops right away,
Looking up underneath where the sound is coming from is a relay # 19843 0301. My ac works just fine and I am in San Antonio so heat will almost never be used but it does work. Not sure if it is the vents cycling but everything seems to be working fine.
On a plus side I had the gear shift indicator light out when I bought the vehicle. I read here about how to replace the light bulb and where to get them. I actually found them at Auto Zone and when having trouble fitting it in, I grabbed the original one and put it back in and it lit up like a Xmas tree. The car has 130,000 miles on it so it must have bumped loose at some time but is working well, cost of repair 0 cents.
Thanks, I do not mean to start a separate topic but am not sure my clicking sound falls into the Blend door one.
2003 S40 19843 0301 Barking dog syndrome
The clicking noise is coming from the far right but the only place that has arms that move is to the far left in picture. The second picture has blower motor but no blend door actuator that I can see. Can anyone point to where it would be on a 2003 S40
TIA
TIA
No doubt about it, it is the blend door. After drilling through the plastic panel behind glove compartment I have access to the blend door. It seems to function normally, it opens or closes smoothly but when it arrives at it's final resting spot on left hand side, the clicking begins. I will take a picture and video.
Any thoughts....does it actually want to move further to the left when the clicking begins? Would hate to replace it with a used part that also clicks, I remember seeing somewhere where I could buy a new one reasonably but seems like it is no longer sold?
