1995 850 Glove box parts

Post by adrian1956 »

A long time ago I removed my damaged glove box, as I had damaged it when the lock broke and recently I purchase a replacement AND it came with these 2 parts (that I had too! from when I took mine apart).what are they?
If I can solve this, I can then add a pictorial of my modifications that now allows me to open the glove box even with it locked!

Maybe it's part of the latch.

I think I will start doing that. Put random parts in the package so people will scratch their heads. lol

Hi Adrian,

Unfortunately, I don't have an 850 to go and pull apart any more, but I did find a bunch of left over parts and have cobbled them together (as best as I can remember) and attached photos that hopefully answer your questions. It was a long time ago since I did this ( > 1 week with my memory!) so the layout should be close.

Just curious, why would that be helpful?

The ability to NOT to destroy the glove box lid IF the lock pin fails again (I have a VERY original VERY OE 850 that took me 8 months to find another glove box!) with a two minute mod that when it done it all 'LOOKS' as it should, but still allows you get the glove box open.
