Hello,
I have the transmission out while I rebuild it and have been pondering replacing the rear main seal as a precaution. It's not leaking, but is 14 years old so I don't want to put it all together and have it start leaking. The bolts holding the flexplate to the crank appear to require a special tool to remove ( the bolt heads are not hex headed). Does anyone know where I can get the tool from at a reasonable cost?
I'm also pondering rebuilding the variable assistance SMI steering rack as it's been filling up the rack boots with fluid - I found these two kits (bottom of the page).
I've seen posts on people rebuilding racks on other models - has anyone done it on an S80? Happy to have a crack at this assuming I can get the right seal kit, but interested to hear any opinions.
Cheers,
Chris
