1998 V70 AWD Exhaust downpipe Heat shield

Post by TheLoneAviator »

I'd recommend a periodic inspection of the exhaust down pipe heat shield that protects the drive shaft flange. While changing my front O2 sensor I found mine was laying on the drive shaft coupling. The bolt holes had rusted/wobbled out allowing the shield to fall off. Luckily looks like it had just occurred as hardly any scratch marks were on the flange. Here's pics & my fix. I brazed new washers over the now oversize holes to hold the 10mm bolts. All good now.
