is there anything odd or different when replacing the cv joint/axle on this car?
my freind is a mechanic but i'm making sure he won't run into something weird bcuz i dont need to be stranded if it needs special "volvo" tool for i am too far from a autostore or towing.
is there an instructional video?

The right hand (passenger's) side is real easy and it requires no special tools. The axle is held in place by a cap over the carrier bearing and once the hub side is off the axle just slides out after the carrier bearing cap is removed.
On a FWD I usually just remove the control arm bolts at the subframe in order to swing the steering knuckle free since I can't ever manage to get the ball joint loose without tearing up the boot. You should use new nuts and bolts for the control arms.
