'97 850 GLT - A/C Compressor PAG Oil ?

Post by combatkarl »

I know this has been covered and I thought I knew which oil to use. The compressor is a Zexel DKS-15CH. Taking info from this site http://www.aa1car.com/library/pagoil.htm -- was thinking I needed PAG46. The green sticker on the compressor notes the model and says Zxl oil PG100. Does this mean I should be using PAG 100 oil. :?
Ozark Lee seems appears to be the PAG oil expert and I've read this post numerous times. And I'm still confused :?:

Finally, tackled the A/C accumulator as well as replacing the drier. Along with reinforcing the dash mounts w/ JB Weld product, replacing bulbs, fixing odometer etc. Also, hoping to get my ECC settings adjusted so the defrost vents work this winter.

Many thanks.

If the compressor says to use zxl PG100 on the sticker then use PAG100. There is conflicting information in the A/C service literature and Volvo themselves are of no help beyond a Volvo part number.

In warm climates, it's possible you could be looking at a replaced compressor of course. I think going with the label on the compressor makes sense. Jimmy57 is another expert on this stuff too, btw.

Thank you both. It's nice to have confirmation of what to do. I'll report back when all done.
