2007 S60 Headlamp lens coating query

2007 S60 Headlamp lens coating query

My wife bought a used 2007 S60 from a dealer last summer. It had about 75000 miles on it. I notice that the headlamp lenses seem to be flaking off an outer coating, revealing a cloudy surface below. My suspicion is that the lenses were scratched up at some point, and a coating added to fix/mask this condition. Any experience with this?
