Spot-on advice about the relearn. Also you should have the fluid counter reset. The trans you bought has copious amounts of sediment and clutch pack material in the lower screen filter which is only accessible during a rebuild. You'll need to drain and fill it afew more times to achieve a cleaner fluid then perform the relearn/adaptation. By the way did you replace the B4 servo cover on the new (used??) trans?

No. What does the b4 servo do? What is its function?

It is a spacer between the end case and the B4 piston which controls the timing for 2-3 upshifts.

All of the early build B4 covers fail if between serial number 01C and 01L

Photo below shows the B4 piston on the left with a faulty B4 cover with a detached (faulty) washer on the inside of the B4 servo cover

It's located near the left wheel above the driveshaft. Costs around $28

So anytime a transmission swap is done on this 2001 v70,it has to be towed to the dealer for adaptive reprogramming?

Yes. If you change the transmission, you must have the transmission counter reset and the adaptive programming procedure done.
Also, anytime the transmission fluid is completely changed have the transmission counter has to be reset and the adaptive programming procedure done.
The last time I changed the all transmission fluid myself, I had the dealer to do just the transmission counter reset. I got the adaptive programming procedure from the dealer's parts guy and did it myself after leaving the dealership - saved another hour of shoptime .

How many miles were on replacement transmission and what are the first 3 characters of serial number is replacement transmission?

The TCM had adapted itself to the old transmission. New parts, different clutch packs and different solenoids require TCM learning. You can drive until this happens (gently over 1000 miles) but if shock is taking place you need adaptation.

HOWEVER without freely operating solenoids and a good B4 cover you're in the same boat.
