2000 S70 GLTSE - Whistling/whine on acceleration/uphill
I had some engine work done at the dealer involving removal of the oil trap and ever since I am hearing a whistling/whining sound when I accelerate. It gets louder/worse when I go uphill. If I take my foot off the accelerator while it's making the sound and then re-apply acceleration, it seems to "calm down" for a bit. I took it to a local shop and they were stumped, but suggested it might be the turbo module. I think I can hear the turbo, though, underneath this new sound, and to me the turbo sounds normal. It doesn't seem to make the sound so much when I drive on the highway at higher speeds, but definitely in the city/suburbs at lower speeds. The sound seems to be worse after long drives, and it's bad enough that I haven't driven it over long distances for a few months. If I don't take my foot off the accelerator while it's making the sound it gets worse and worse. Yesterday when I had to merge more quickly than I expected it got louder (almost like a siren) and I felt like I lost a little power. I am thinking it's possibly a problem with the downpipe or a vaccuum hose. Has anyone ever had this issue? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Someone damaged a vacuum hose or left a clamp loose somewhere.
Get an asst to feed 1500 -2000 rpm to the motor, and listen around your motor with a piece of garden hose stuck in your ear, point the other end towards hoses and things on the engine until you find the leak.
If you do this before your engine breaks, you can learn what alternators, water pumps, idler pulleys, etc sound like when they are ok.
Purists make sure the hose colour matches the car, but that is debatable, of course.

That's why I bought the Blue/Green S70, it matched my garden hose

Along the same lines (pun semi-intended) a piece of fuel line, or vacuum hose with a nail in the far end can be used to pinpoint knocking sounds like lifters etc...
