I live in NY and we follow California's emissions, where can I purchase a direct fit cat that is good. I need the front one and I am not having any luck. I am being told the dealer is my option at this point.

I am not sure that NY uses CA emission standards. Just because you're in NY doesn't necessarily mean that your car has to conform.
Regardless, it may be worth verifying your VIN with one of the sponsor suppliers to confirm that it is indeed a CA equipped car.
Maybe you'll get lucky and you wont be strangled with CA emissions. I see FCP has a 49 state cat for around 300 bucks.
