Hi,
An easy question for those that know.
My first attempt installing a VVT camshaft oil seal is not going well.It leaks worse than the old one but it could be my ignorance that is the problem.I have pushed the seal in level with the dip and assumed that the seal runs on the hub of the vvt pulley.
(I have a drawing from volvo that explains the vvt function and it shows the oil seal running on the pulley)
Is this wrong ? Should the oil seal be pushed in further to seal on the camshaft? According to the drawing that would be impossible but when i look at mine it looks like it might be possible.

It should install at same location as old one. There should be a smear of clean oil on contact surfaces before install. If shaft surface is dry the seal lip may catch and the inside spring ends up on the shaft - hence a lot of oil spewing out.

Is there a tutorial for this, and is it as insane as I've heard it described...?
