1988 740 Brake Booster Pedal Rod Issue

Hi All,

I replaced the booster on my 1988 740 Volvo turbo w/ ABS, however when I installed the new booster the brake pedal was a hair short from deactivating the brake switch, so I pulled the pedal out towards myself and heard a pop and now the brake booster rod is loose causing now the brakes to lock under vacuum. Is there a way to seat the rod back in the booster or do I have to replace it again as I'm wondering if I pulled the pedal to hard and broke some sort of rod retaining clip!?
