Hello Everyone, I have the tracs/abs light on. Iv had a mechanic look at it and he cant find any thing wrong with it. Hes cleared the codes but the lights come back on. If I make a right turn a certain way the lights will go off until I hit a bump hard enough for there return. Latley ive heard what sounds like a small air pump. this has only happened acouple times. I will be taking this car on a road trip soon and would like to get this taken care of. Thank you in advance for any help or advice

If the module hasn't been rebuilt then it is likely failing (They have a 100% failure rate) but from your description you may have a wheel sensor problem. The way to narrow it down is to scan the ABS but a typical P code sensor won't talk to the ABS system. VOL-FCR and an VAG-COM cable will read the fault codes and it might give you more clues.

The key to reading abs codes with Vol-fcr is trying to separate module generated codes from actual faults. Module fault codes always populate in order for each sensor, actual wheel sensor faults will not populate in the same fashion with the extrapolation code.

The downside is that if you have a module that's been bad forever and has 12 stored codes is that there can be an external fault but you won't know as the codes won't repopulate.

Module:

Sensors are more expensive although there are some ultra-cheap options out there:

You will want to check the resistances with a voltmeter, to see if one of the sensors is bad. The Midwest-abs site explains that, have some clicks around there. Or do some searching there are a lot of posts about ABS sensors.

If you want to just throw the dice and see if the most obvious thing fixes it, a rebuilt module is probably the best bet. Not as good as troubleshooting and finding the problem first, but not a bad choice here since they all, eventually fail.
