2007 V70 has no STC

Post by jw113 »

I recently bought my first Volvo, a 2007 V70 2.5T auto, and have a question about spin and traction control (STC). Before buying I'd read that all 2007 models came with this standard, and the manual that came with my car says the same. But while my car was made in Mar 2007, turning the info ring on the turn signal doesn't show a STC menu item, and there's no sign of a STC light on the dash when the car is started. It's would seem that my 2007 doesn't have STC.

So is the manual wrong, or could STC somehow be disabled on my car? At this point the only spin control is my right foot, and it would be nice to have something more sophisticated now that the rainy season has arrived.

Thanks.

That would be DSTC not STC and your car should have it
Are you 100% sure you have a 2007 (seriously)?

My reading of the manual is that the T5s and Rs have DSTC, and the lesser models have STC.

The VIN decoder says it's a 2007, it's registered as a 2007, and the door frame label says it was made 03/07. Could it be otherwise?

Having checked the manual, it just occurs to me (I won't be able to check it for a couple days) -- could this be due to the ABS+STC fuse under the dash being blown?

Also 07 XCs have DSTC
Perhaps FWD non turbos do not, but I recall Volvo being adamant that all 2007 Volvos came with DSTC (for safety)!
There are no 2007 T5s, at least in the US

Mine has the 2.5T engine. I spoke to a service manager, who was formerly Parts manager, he's been working fir that dealership in montreal for many years, he confirmed not all 07 had STC or DSTC

Not being able to turn it off does not mean it is not a feature of the car. Have any of you with the question ever accelerated on ice or snow and had the skidding car light come on or blink?
VIDA vehicle details list will tell you all the as built features of the car.

I can screech the tires anytime, on rainy or dry road. Even my 99 S70 w/STC prevented that...

Same here, which is why the issue has come up. On wet roads it seems far too easy to spin the wheels...

Well, the ABS+STC fuse is not the problem, as it's fine...
