condition: excellent

Unfortunately having to sell my beautiful 2000 Volvo V70R wagon. This soon to be classic can easily run 12's but also has storage enough for a bike in the back. I have babied this car and the interior is in near mint condition, for 14 years of age, mint. Black leather with suede accents, folding rear seats, no cigarette smoke. I am selling the car because I have a job opportunity in Montana, and want to buy a truck for a little bit more clearance. The car has new break pads and rotors, recently had the oil changed, I have a K&N filter as well as a 3" Snab intake, this car is fast as hell, 2.7L high pressure turbo charged engine, runs clean and sounds like a powerboat. This car definitely turns heads. Please feel free to call me or text me anytime and we can set up a test drive. Thanks!
The usual disclaimer: I don't know the seller, don't know the car, don't know anything beyond what the ad says, and don't have any interest in this sale. This post is intended to potentially provide a match between an MVS member and his future Volvo, or generate discussion because of the car's rarity, beauty, or low price. MVS posts ads of cars that I personally would go to see with intent to buy.

I list cars I find on denver.craigslist.org because I live here, and always have an eye open for a deal.

Matthew, I was just curious, I used to live there too, I like Denver a lot.

Hi, I'm new to the forums and looking to buy a V70R. I've looked online at both the 2000 posted originally and this one for sale in the Denver area http://denver.craigslist.org/cto/4731405869.html

I've previously owned a '97 850 GLT, so I'm a little familiar with Volvos, but not overly up to speed on V70Rs. I've read AWD components are a weak spot, as is the heater core and PCV system.

According to KBB, both the originally posted V70R and the link I posted are quite a bit over Blue Book. Does that sort of pricing hold true on Rs - ie. above Blue Book? I like the Pegs and wing on the 2000 model, but I like the recent maintenance done to the 1998 more.

I'd greatly appreciate any input you gents can give me as I look to get back into the Volvo game. I'm headed to Denver next weekend with my family and will very likely be looking at one or both of these.

The 98 would be a good buy at 4000 but I suspect the seller will hold out for something more like 4500. You never know. The 00 looks decent but overpriced. I agree with your thoughts on the relative merits of the two; I like the 98.

KBB pretty much always reports unrealistically high prices, it is a waste of time for used car shoppers. Try edmunds.com, it is a much better source for actual selling prices in your area.

Thanks. The 1998 is the one I'm going to go for. I emailed Volvo Specialists in Denver and Keits recommended the 1998 as well. It's a simpler car, electronically, which is a big asset not being close to any dealers who can diagnose issues. After emailing back and forth with the seller, at least on the surface, it appears to be well cared for. I also appreciate the price suggestion. I'm going to show up with cash in hand and hope it speaks!

If I was living in Denver with access to more resources, I'd be all over the 2000 from the original post. There's just something about the Pegs and dual exhaust/wing combo in the rear that I love.

Again, thanks for the replies!

Clean trade on the 2000 R from NADA is 3000 USd (nada) and clean retail is 5000, with a fair private price being in the middle, less needed repairs and maintenance.

Most cars aren't as clean as the owner thinks. On a 2000, I would deduct 1000 immediately if it's a white sticker ETM for example

The trouble is, you guys are Volvo guys and know the cars. I don't suspect these two sellers are the same. I'm hoping he will take $4,000 for the 1998, but I assume he'll try to get $4250 or $4500. I'm not as interested in the 2000 any more.

They're both still for sale, after many weeks. The balance of power in negotiations is slowly moving (more) to your favor, LetterT.
