2005 S60 No Fuel Pressure

After a frustrating week of trying to get Vida to install I finally have it working. The Dice/Vida 2014a DVD from Aliexpress had a corrupt file DiagSWDLRepository.zip and it would not extract causing the "Vida Not Ok" message. Looking through the Vida install log it would say invalid block size which I though had something to do with SQl Express configuration. Anyway I tested the zip with winrar and it flagged it as corrupt. I was able to download a 2014a iso from the internet and used its DiagSWDLRepository.zip.

Back to issues . Here are the CEM codes (pic attached). They indicate a faulty fuel pump relay in the CEM.

The current to the pump is around 8A. I can get the car to run by disconnecting the white and white/black wires at the pump connector and run it from a small 12v battery.

Use the Delivery tab to assess the health of the electrical system. The Initial State tab is what has happened since the last code clear with Vida.

A wiring diagram will help you locate the relay.

Try swapping relays on the CEM to see if the fault moves to another component.

The relay is inside the CEM on this year of car.

I have had a REM apart on 2005 later style and the relays on it would be tough to unsolder and replace but I think it is possible.
3F90 can set due to resistance in relay contacts or if the load is too high. It effectively is an excess voltge drop code. Fauty fuel pump could set this one in addtion to bad relay in CEM.

3F91 is set if the output of the relay circuit is detected with voltage when relay is not commanded on. This could result from testing where the transfer pump was powered by external power.

There is a note in VIDA that seems to apply here. It states there is a risk of a ground conductor on CEM can fail and it leads to this code and to front seat heater codes and the BCM comm code. The BCM code may not have returned becuase the BCM code is not set without engine having started and run.

Hopefully if this is the case it is a failure in an accessible place in CEM where a jumper of copper wire can be soldered over the burned spot.

I have replaced the fuel pump so I know that is not it. I couldn't determine it was actually bad but I wanted to eliminate it as a root cause the fried the PEM in first place.

How hard is it to open the CEM? I had the CEM out when I sent it to Xemodex but I didn't open it up. Any tips on opening it?

Since I already sent it to Xemodex and they didnt fix it I am hoping I can send it back. But so far their support has been virtually nill.

I removed the CEM. I'll try to contact Xemodex tomorrow for warranty repair. I will post whether or not I get a response from them

An Update

I returned the CEM to Xemodex and sure enough the fuel pump relay was bad. Re-installed the CEM tonight and car started right up.

I still may need to check into my fuel pump installation since the fuel level is not indicating correctly but that can wait at least a few days.
