Nothing wrong with the motor, but who is to say that an original turbo with 268k miles on it will last? I mean nothing really wrong with motor, there are minor annoyances that I put up, as all of us do with owning these cars, but I would have to say the next big thing would be the timing belt and water pump. I just don't know what else I can expect to "go"…

Try the suppliers on MVS including Erie Vovo, vandsautodismantlers in CA. Some of these places warrant their parts, or have tested the units prior to selling. Heck, if you pull the transmission, how much more for a lower mileage engine and transmission?

Thanks guys. I saw this one and it kind of caught my eye. I have always preferred white but this is a t5 in pretty nice condition. It's just how do I know the a/c won't go, or this or that. etc. I guess it's a risk, but minus the awful extra wood trim inside, looks pretty damn nice. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Volvo-S60-T5-06 ... ars_Trucks

My Volvo just passed 345785 miles, I don't have a problem putting money into it to make it a good daily driver. Just put some new wheels/tires on it.

Made gauges holder and new radio for it.

That is quite a bit of mileage! Original engine, head, headgasket, tranny? Which engine?

Hey Lee, THANKS. I'm even saving those pictures. And you hit the nail on the head, these will be my "play" cars in retirement. I'm going after the absolute best I can afford since I know a restoration will take longer than Ive got to wait on it.

Hey Speedy, bring old girl up here, back home. LOL I had the tranny in my wagon replaced at 191,000 with a used box, no idea what the miles on it was. I never believe them anyway. I now have 267,xxx so I'm trying to catch up to yours. Should be able to get a used tranny swapped in for less than $1,500 if you are not afraid of the risk. I'll take it if you can afford to accept my monthly payments of 35 cents.

The black T5 looks great and they have a good seller rating. You can always Google the dealerships company to look for delayed on-line complaints.

I actually am going to Albuquerque for Thanksgiving Robert. The s70 t5 is in perfect condition, just needs the tranny. Talked to Master's Touch where I used to work and told them what the shop told me, they agreed and said it might not be worth the trip to do it in Albuquerque as the trans could leave me stranded. It's weird, absolutely no symptoms today, however yesterday it was really acting up. If you do want a gorgeous s70 t5 let me know. The shop here has a 1 year warranty on a transmission with 150k miles on it, the warranty also covers 70% of labor, so if it does need to be taken out I won't be out on all the labor either. So between a 1 year warranty on a transmission, with 70% of labor under that warranty, 2 new axles, fluid, and everything, we are looking at around 2,400 dollars. I know I could get a used trans online somewhere from a Volvo salvage yard and have them put it in, however if it doesn't work when it goes in, I have to pay the labor to take it out and in again… So, I'm thinking the 2,400 is the best bet?
