99 V70 confused on TDC timing

Is it possible for you to post a picture of the front of the motor? Cam sprockets with the top cover on?

I did find the notches on the cam sprocket. they are small. BUT they no longer matter (at least not right now) because the rear of the cams and the crankshaft are in alignment. i may loosen the sprockets and rotate the sprockets so that they line up with the notches in the upper cam cover.

I just reinstalled all the parts needed to start the car and let it run for about 15 seconds and thats all it took for the ETS light to come on. What does the ETX light have to do with anything that i have touched thus far?
obviousyly, still sputtering & running poorly.

ETS light?

You probably have the infamous ETM issues!!!
Just a co-incidence with the cam seals DIY.

Did you disconnect or break the brake pedal position sensor on the brake booster by chance?

UPDATE: i tightened everything down. double checked again and started it up. The engine started clean and idled well. I reved it up and it responded relatively well. i put the wheel back on and pulled it out of the garage and it make it past where i had made it before and i went several times up and down the street. the pickup was at least as good as it had been before...

in summary i think that in confirming the timing, I must have turned over the engine enough for it to clear its troubles. i have no leak from the cam seals and the engine seems to run pretty good. the next step will be to head over to the store to read codes.

as for the ETS issue, it went away. after starting the car several times during this timing confirmation and reinstallation process the code cleared. all CHECK ENGINE codes are cleared as of right now.

i sincerely thank all of you for your help. you kind souls are the biggest reason why i love Volvo's so much. for a rookie cutting their teeth on a 99 v70 you guys are grease angels.
