1998 V7 AWD How to remove rear springs??

Post by my98v70 »

Hello all,
Im in the process of lowering my car. The fronts are on coilovers and im trying to install drop bolts on the rear. Nivomats are removed no problem but how do i remove the spring? Ive unbolted everything on the axle except the one bolt in the middle that rotates. I figured id unbolt it and the big metal arm would swing down releasing the spring so i can pull it out. What else do i need to do? Thanks

I don't follow the second post but on removing the coil springs: get the car up in the air and supported so that the rear suspension is in full drop, then the sprigs will just drop right out.

So i need to unbolt both sides of the rotating arm meaning the 2 bolts in the middle and all bolts closes to te wheel? The side closest to the wheel seems to be held up by something else and wont drop all the way down

On the AWD it is a bigger problem than it is with the FWD. I had to remove the springs to get the Nivomats out of a junk yard car since it was about 3" too close to the ground and the pick n pull lots won't let you use a jack.

As I recall I had to remove the sway bar. Essentially everything that hooked up to the lower spring seat had to come off.
