1998 V70XC I would like a spare key, Stealer says $100

Stealer says something like a HUNDRED friggin bucks for a spare key to the wagon,
While I can buy blanks pretty cheap, No one near me cuts them and the Stealership says they don't cut them either,
Is there a way to get a reasonable copy?
Its just a key,
No alarm in head of key,
Just a key.
It makes me uneasy to not have 2 spares for all my cars,

That is way out of line, check some of the other dealership websites. They can cut the key based on the VIN.

Try Superior Volvo in Kansas City, send an email to their parts department or PM me I can send you the person's name who I have always bought from. As of last year they were still doing it for $11.50 shipped per key, I bought a couple for a 98 last year. You will have to send them a scan of your driver's license and the VIN of the car, they will send you back working key(s). No, they are not part of an identity theft ring ...

Locally Ace Hardware can cut the non-chipped Volvo key- last time I checked it was about $20 for the laser cut, including the blank

The going rate for laser cut aka sidewinder key cutting is $35 in my neck of the woods.
