2000 V70R - Rear brake rotor minimum thickness?

Post by scot850 »

Anyone have access to info that gives minimum rotor thickness for a 2000 V70R (vented rotors)?

The one I just removed had a fairly thick ridge on both sides, although the pads have plenty of life left (previous owner said brakes had been done. Reckon he replaced the pads only as he couldn't remove the rusted on rotor).

Thanks,

Neil.

My dealer service foreman friend is having problems finding this info. They are very busy as it is winter tire season up here and it gets crazy busy for them. He is still looking.

What is more troubling is that Volvo say the rotors (vented rears on this car) are N/A!! Brake rotors are service items for crying out loud!

I have found a dealer in the US that claims they have access to 6 rotors so I have ordered 2. They claim they are OE.

The only other game in town is a aftermarket brand called Centric. Never used their products. Are they any good if any of you have used their products?

The have at least a spec. for the rotors. Max. 20mm and Min. 18mm. Got this info from a helpful guy on V70R forum.

As this info is impossible to find, if my friend can find the info for OE rotors, torque settings etc., and I have any confirmation the rotors have shipped, I will give anyone that needs these rotors or want to squirrel away a set the contact info to snag the last 4 rotors.

As I appear to be talking to myself on this, I will post the reply from my dealer mechanic friend that took a lot of digging to find!

This includes info for the standard solid type rear rotor as well as the vented rear rotor.

For completeness: Caliper slider pin torque: 30Nm
Brake caliper bracket torque: 50Nm

I also may have lucked out on some 'un-obtanium' rear vented OE rotors. I'm waiting now to see if they actually appear from my order. eEuroparts also claim to have rotors, but I'm waiting to confirm they are actually OE. Also had info from a guy on V70R website about another company he buys rotors from and had good performance from. All types, including drilled, slotted, and original spec and black or silver finishes. Check V70R for info.
