It's Aisin not Asian.

It breaks down on 85% of 00-02 models and around 25% of post '02 models with improper fluid change intervals. The average of those 2 figures are 55%

The 50 stands for 50% of people will unknowingly purchase a vehicle with a faulty transmission because they didn't allow it to fully warm up during the test drive.

OP - the lore here on MVS is it is NOT a good idea to get these transmissions flushed by anyone. It is much better to replace the fluid over a period of a few months with a drain and fill protocol, removing about 3 quarts each time and replacing with new.

The humor is fine, so long as it is clearly humor, Snark is a skill elevated by certain respected members of the forum. It all boils down to the serious question posed also. As you surmised Aisin-Warner 4 speed automatic. Replaced the 50-42 series in earlier models. So you were about 50% correct. :D

And do the "girls" like the humor as well as the car?

Edit-duh, what I meant was 55-50 is 5 speed replacement for 50-42 4 speed .

1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

I believe this is a 5 speed trans as JRL said not a 4 speed.
