I have a stock red 1997 850 R I kept for driving fun but never modified beyond stage 0.
No, doesn't have orig R 17" wheels just 16" turbo wheels all else stock R. I bought car in "99 with 15K mi.
Not insured for collision as a $3,000 car would get totaled anyway. So... Got hit today on front end pushing bumper laterally. Oil cooler/ radiator may have been taken out etc. Raining hard so didn't really inspect fully. Not worth fixing to me but could be. Shame to send it to yard. Mileage under 145K
I need help finding someone in the Philly area who may want this machine or help me to part it out and maybe share proceeds. I just sold my house and have no yard or garage to store car and tools in storage far away so can't really pull parts etc. ?????
This car was well maintained and has lots of good parts. Has normal wear and tear, a broken bit of plastic here and there and Interior is immaculate except minor drivers seat wear. Put 2 grand into car within last 1000 mi like heater core and Bremo Rotors, Akebono pads plus 5 Dunlop Sport tires. Within last 10K mi new abs module, belt n water pump, all pcv parts. Some basic little crap hasn't been fixed but no big deals.
Know of anyone who might help? I'm out of a job so anything I can recoup out of this car would be nice.
Thanks much
Breck

Beautiful car, love Rs in red.
If you can't find someone to part it out, maybe you can sell it for a fair price to a good home.
Parting takes a lot of time and patience.
It would be great to see it alive again.

Hello, I wish I could keep and fix her up.
Maybe try and sell her to a volvo shop for some $$$? Wolfe automotive in Frazer and SwedeWorks in Kimberton?
Does JRL need a new project?

Looks worse than it is, just body parts! Sounds like you put plenty of time and money into it. Low mileage and great condition, might be work repairing even if you dont do it yourself

This car should live. Would be cool to put the standard 850 bumper cover on it, a regular rear deck lid, and have a sweet little sleeper (roof racks) to surprise those Mustang V-8 boys.

that'll buff right out!
Seriously, I would try my best to fix that. They are rare and in that condition with low mileage, its totally worth it.
Good luck!

Thanks, didn't think about calling SwedeWorks or even Phil @ Car Crafters.
As far as fixing it up I would be out of pocket as I just lowered ins coverage last month so i'm sol. I was ok with maintenance costs to keep driving it, even stock the R is a kick in the pants to drive, but I'm probably not throwing a couple grand at it for body work. Gotta get it out of the tow yard real quick.....no where to put it as I sold house last month and am staying with friends etc...
I never really visited this forum much, who is the guy from Devon PA that posted on here that tweaked or sold cars?

Send some pics of the damage. You will be amazed what you do with a small scissor jack, wood and long pipe. I was able to pull my rad support on my Prelude when I got into an accident. Everything else is just bolting in used panels.
If your not handy, find a mom and pop body shop that can pull the frame and do the rest yourself. Keep the scratches if your tight on money. You won't get much if you sell it, and parting it out can be agrevating. If you can't tell by browsing this forum and seeing a post about $1000 car, with 1/2 million km getting the most posts: Volvo owners of this vintage are cheap/frugal and will nickel and dime you.
But ppl are more than willing to help and offer good advice here !

I parted a front end accident 97 R wagon for a little over $900, I bought it for the engine/transmission. R front bumper and 17 inch stock R Volan wheels sold for $300.
Honestly, if anyone would give you over $700 as-is, take it and run!
