1987 240 engine mount replacement
Going to change the engine mounts on my 87 volvo 240 wagon. Are there any how to videos I can review? I have put this job off for months and it is time to get it done. I watched a video months ago but I cannot find it again.

I didn't read the manual, but used a cherry picker, which its legs where inserted between vehicle's passenger tire. Then, I hooked the thermostat's lift-hook, and gently lifted engine a small pinch, and then pushed driver's side of engine towards passenger side, and replaced driver's side motor mount.2forty wrote:change the engine mounts on my 87 volvo 240 wagon..

You could use some electrical u-channel to support the engine. It only needs to be lifted a tiny bit. See cleanflametrap's writeup on oil pan removal for pics (reproduced below).

I highly recommend pulling out the entire mount bracket setup, replacing the mount rubber (off the car), and reinstalling it as a unit. There are three bolts holding the crossmember-side bracket, and three holding the engine-block-side bracket.
Also, only use OEM mounts, preferably the heavier-duty diesel engine mounts. VolvoPartsLisle has great prices.
Left diesel mount: PN# 1229805. $34.87
Right diesel mount: PN#1272346. $18.14

I used a standard jack, and stands. I took me a 4 hours, because of that, it was quite difficult. I am sure that if you use the crossbar or an engine lift, things will get easier to work under there. As far as changing the mounts removing brackets and stuff...Its not such a big deal. (careful with the oil senser )
