No codes, engine starts normal. It takes 30-60 seconds after starting, for the dash lights, heater, radio and mirror's to turn on and function. Then everything is normal. ? . Any ideas to fix that lag .

I`ll suggest the following potential problem sources:
1) Check all the battery cables, earth points, earth cable resistance, and battery connections.
2) Possibly the ignition switch has dirty or failing contacts. Try the ignition key jiggle to see if it makes a difference.
3) Check the condition of the B+ cable where it connects in the main fuse box in front of the brake booster. Un-clip the lid and look at where the cable enters at the front of the fuse box. If the cable end is shiny the chances are it is good, but if it is tarnished or burnt, replace ASAP. Worst case if it is dis-coloured it could be near shorting out the fuse box and can cause a fire.
4) Lastly it could be a bad cable connector to the dashboard.
Neil.

If the car starts and runs, your primary charging system cables are probably OK.
The starter draws mrs current than anything else in the car, and if it's turning over,
then your main power and ground cables are making a pretty good case for themselves.
However, the B+ cable for your year of XC70 does have a pretty solid rep for going bad.
The term cable is somewhat misleading. The B+ cable for your XC is actually several
small cables running together from the positive terminal of the battery to the big
fuse box mentioned above.
Taking a good look at both ends is a great start, but get the meter out.
Performing a voltage drop check with a volt meter will give you a much
more accurate assessment of it's condition that just visually inspecting it.
You'll find numerous posts on both topics ( B+ cable and Voltage Drop) here on MVS.
As mentioned, the contact block of the ignition switch is also a likely culprit.
The jiggle test can reveal a lot, but if it's too far gone, that check may be fruitless.
As these cars age, another tissue that's arising more and more often is a failing overload relay.
There are far too many accessories in the car to run through the relatively small contacts of the ignition switch, so several relays are energized when you turn on the key to help carry those loads.
They're often referred to as ignition overload relays and are designated #'s 105 and 106. You'll have
to remove the cover of the smaller fuse box near the windshield to ( 4 torx screws ) to reach them.

Nice when it is that simple! Great catch BEjinFbk.
I have noticed in the past that some of the fuses in the fuse box below the windshield in the rear of the engine bay, the fuse contacts can get 'furry'. Worth removing these and checking every few years as well as the relays in the rear section.
