I just checked the code on my check engine light and the number is P1449 from looking around I've found it should mean Evaporative Check Solenoid Circuit Malfunction.
Have any of you had this problem? If so what did you find was the issue and how did you fix it?

I don't see a reference to "P1449" in the VIDA. You will get the most specific trouble codes from a DiCE / VIDA scanner. This will be integrated into a workshop manual for your car. You can get the hardware end (China clone) for ~$100, and the VIDA software end for free in a VMware image from this site.
