98 XC70 Fuel rail pressure
98 XC70 Fuel rail pressure
I'm trying to find the reason for a no start condition on my car. (215,000 mi) My fuel rail pressure is 35-38 psi as I turn it over. After I stop cranking, the pressure drops slowly and consistently. Is this normal or should it hold pressure? Also, the sending unit on the fuel pump stopped working a few month ago so the fuel gauge doesn't work. The pump has been starting and running fine before and during the no start condition as I drained the fuel out of the tank in anticipation of a new fuel pump installation. Should I just put a new pump in or could this no start condition be something else? Thanks in advance for any help.

If you have 38 psi fuel pressure when cranking the engine, your no start issue isn't your fuel pump, leave it alone.
Are you injectors firing? Do you have spark? Check for those.
