Hey Fellow Volvo Appreciators, So this is the story.
Code 130 O2 sensor circuit malfunction(bank 1 sensor 1);
Code 141 O2 sensor heater circuit malfunction(bank1 sensor2);
Code 135 O2sensor heater circuit malfunction(bank1 sensor1)
Code 245 Turbocharger wastegate sensor solenoid low
Code 410 Secondary Air Injection Systyem Malfunction
Code 414 Secondary Air Injection System Switching, Valve A shorted
Code 445 Evaporative Emission Control System Purge Control Valve circuit shorted
Code 448 Evaporative Emission Control System vent control circuit shorted
The car was dead set against running. My once trusted main mechanic gave it back to me and said he thought it needed a computer. My new mechanic says it had a shorted out wire from an O2 sensor and a fried computer - literally you could smell that from 100 feet. A brand new Bosch MAF sensor was installed and a pick and pull computer from a 98 cross country was installed. She starts right up, I am getting 20 mpg average but she skips a beat once in about every hour of driving, like a little hiccup.
A friend of the new trusted mechanic who works at a Volvo dealer brought his gizmo down and said there are no shorts. I did buy 2 computers at pick n pull, have not plugged in the second one.
What would you do ?

I might pick up a junkyard MAF and swap it in, see if that solves the hiccup.

Codes are post ecu swap. O2 sensor age - not sure. All codes say bank 1 is the problem, what is bank 1 ?

Bank 1 sensor 1 is the front O2 sensor.
Bank 1 sensor 2 is the rear (post-cat) O2 sensor.
I don't know the exact setup of the O2 sensors on your XC but probably the front tone is the problem.
Another possibility is that there is a vacuum leak somewhere, be sure to check out all hoses thoroughly because if that is a problem, new O2 sensor(s) won't solve it.

If the O2 sensors have more than 100K miles swap them right away or you are asking for trouble down the road. They should be considered a maintenance item at 100K unless you fancy replacing the much more expensive catalytic converter.

Regarding the hiccup....my car does the exact same thing. This might be a "unique" feature on 98' P80 cars with a turbo.
I talked with my indie mechanic about this who is a trained Volvo mechanic. He is extremely knowledgeable and very trustworthy and has the same car as me with nearly 300k on it. His car also has this hiccup (always had) and he has no clue as to what it could be. So I just live with it.

I've got the hiccup in a non-turbo '98, so I don't think the problem is unique to turbos. Moreover, if i stop at a light after the engine is warm, there can be a slight idle dip. Doesn't happen every time, but often enough to be noticeable.

So the hiccup is not unique to myself. Hmmm, if I figure it out I will announce the solution ! I have consistent rpm at idle so vacuum leak seems unlikely. Front o2 sensor is suspect. I wonder what triggers so many codes when the car performs very well. To be continued....

One thing I haven't checked is the brake booster vacuum line -- it is solo tucked away and a real pita to get to.
