98 v70 FWD rim offset

After much searching here and everywhere I need some rim offset advice. My car has 15"x6.5 Steel rims with a 38mm offset. I'm looking to buy 16"x7" rims for snow tires. I'm having a difficult time finding rims in that size with that offset that are not rusted out, 42mm offsets are no problem. Questions are, do I need to concern myself with the offset difference of the rim? Do I need 5mm spacers to make up the difference? Can I grind off the mounting stud? Am I over thinking this? I plan on using 205/55/16 tires,nothing to crazy. Any advice would me much appreciated.

I'm using 17x7 42mm offset S80 wheels on my 850 wagon with no problems.

May I ask why you're using the bigger wheels for snow tires? People usually use smaller wheels for winter and bigger wheels for summer.

I've found a few sets of 16" alloy wheels on Craigslist with winter tires already on them already. I would eventually put all season on in spring. I currently would need to buy two new snow tires for my existing rims at around the same price as buying four used. Plus they look much better than my current rusted, pot holed rims with lost hub caps.
What about the mounting stud? Can I grind off?

What mounting studs? V70 uses lug bolts.

The key way stud in the rotor. The newer rims don't seem to have the hole for it.

Rim offset on all my P80 and former 850 were 43mm.

You can either grind the pin down so it looks like a regular bolt, or replace with a regular bolt head. The pin is just to help locate the rim in bad light and make it easier to locate lug bolt holes.

I prefer to run narrower tires and steels. On fwd v70/850, a 185 or 195/60 15". These cut through snow and last up to ruts and pot holes way better than alloys. Understand your predicament though based on what is available in your area. Biggest thing to watch out for other than the 5 x 108mm lug bolt pitch, is the hub diameter. Double check, but I believe yours will be 65.x mm. Some newer Volvos use 63mm and some up to 67mm. You want them to be snug on the hub or you can get weird vibrations.
