Hello Volvo fans, I am new to this particular forum so if I say or do anything to offend anyone I would like to apologize in advance. now down to the problem I am experiencing
Its a 2002 S60 2.4T I just got the car so do not know the back story all I know its been sitting for a while
I have put about 100 miles since getting the car and after driving few miles and vehicle being warmed up and when I try to restart the engine it will die right away no matter how many times you start it, if gas pedal is pressed the vehicle will stay running until let go, if I give some gas then try to drive it, it will drive normal and will not stall while in gear and drives fine, also while starting in the morning or when engine is cold the car starts just fine and stays running, so my problem only happens when the car is warm and is being turned off then back on.
No check engine light
2002 volvo s60 stalls after restart while warm Topic is solved
car was a bit of a mess when I got it, so i did a stage 0, and again the car runs great while in drive or when started cold

What I was getting at was that maybe you noticed the plugs were smoked indicating a rich condition coming from a defective coolant sensor, which explains your symptoms.

this coolant sensor you are talking about, is it the one next to thermostat?

Yeah that coolant sensor is built into the thermostat housing on 2002s and will be a PITA to remove. I bought one for our 2002 XC (also an LPT) & haven't been able to muster up the courage to do the job.
Also expensive at over $80 landed (I bought an Italian made Beck Arnley from Amazon) so you would want to look at Torque with ELM327 as a minimum before investing in a new housing.
Coolant temp while warm is easy enough to read on any obdII scanner.

Current cars VW Transporter 2.5TDI, 2010 XC90 D5 R Design
will look into that sensor, should have one laying around somewhere
thanks Mike

You could put a meter to it, set on ohms, engine stopped and harness unplugged. It should read over 1000 ohms engine cold and a few tens of ohm engine hot. Someone may know exact ohm readings, but my ball park range will give you an idea. Or you could use a code reader as said. Many ways to skin a cat...
