Autozone sells the Spectra brand, which is more expensive than Nissens.

Since the O.P. is in San Francisco, he is in good shape because the biggest importer for European parts in the US is in the San Francisco, CA area (SSF imports). In fact, when you order from let's say rmeuropean.com, they drop ship from SSF to your house.

He's right about the o-rings, find your way to a dealer and get two of them part # 968757 should be about $3 each. Get 4 if you want to also replace the o-rings on the oil cooler lines, which you will have top detach to do this job. There is also a sealing ring on each hose connection, it looks like an o-ring, those are fine to re-use unless they are visibly damaged. Maybe pick up one of those so you have it if you need it. Also only $3 but all those $3 parts start to add up.

If you don't buy the Valeo rad I think I would go with Autozone simply for the easy warranty: there are stores all over the country. I don't think the Nissens quality is any better than whatever brand(s) people have been getting from Autozone (the brand may well change over time).

Since you have enough headache, and if you want life to be simple, stick to Nissens. The fit will be nice and tight.
As I mentioned, SSF is down the street from where you are stranded. Call and beg them. Normally they only deal with online vendors (such as rmeuropean dot com) and not individual like us. But if you tell them your situation, they will likely help you.

An option...
Tow the car to nearby Autozone or likes parking lot.
Rent tools from Autozone. Read codes. Dispose fluids, and parts.
Order parts through Autozone or have it shipped there.
There is always a place to eat near.
Be friends with manager/customer service person. Most guys working there may lend a hand.
Make it a fun experience/adventure.
Stay positive!

Another question, like I saying I have recently replaced this radiator. And its still under warranty but it was the cheap Taiwan radiator I just called them and I can warranty it for free so should I take my chances? Like I mentioned I'm really low on $ right now I just came to San Francisco to start a new job and this happened... What exactly are the issues with using chap rads?

Can you afford to wait or do you want one need it right now? 99% radiator is made either in China/Taiwan.

Had zero problem with my Autozone radiator. Maybe the XC lines are different.

If I were stranded on the road, I would use anything just to be able to drive home. The idea of fixing the car at Autozone parking lot is the best. Harbor Freight parking lot is also very good.

Nissens is cheaper and better than Spectra.
Plus SSF is down the street of the O.P.'s stranded location.

LOL, I guarantee you can also find multiple threads where people bought a Nissens that didn't fit right, and threads where people are very happy with their Autozone radiator. Unless you are going to link them all, I don't see the point there. Considering all of the information, the only one that is a sure thing is the Valeo, that's my take on it. Yes, I know others will disagree.

OP, are you saying you can get the warranty rad where you are? I would, if possible. It sounds like cash flow is highly relevant to this thread.

If OP can get Nissens for the same price or cheaper, and still set up shop at autozone, then that is a fine way to go, agreed.
