2000 S40 RPM Spike on startup.

Post by jdpartridge05 »

When this car has been sitting for a little while for instance over night. When I first start it the RPM's spike to around 1.5-2k then immediately drop back down to 1000 or so. This just started happening. I understand that it revs higher to warm the car up quicker but, this is not what is happening. This is a spike as soon as it is started and then back down to normal idle in a matter of about 1 second.

If I warm it up go to the store come back out I will get a normal start up no rev spike.

I was thinking a long the lines of a leaky injector or maybe a leaky FPR. If anybody else has this issue could you help me out or at least point me in the right direction.

Thanks

I am running the VMware image from this site on my Win 8.1 netbook with no problems (other than slowness). I believe you should set up the DiCE outside of the VMware image to ensure smooth firmware updates.
