Nope...as far as i can see...you're talking about ECU(s).Engine & transmission(if it's auto).HulkC70 wrote:It's a pretty easy install if I remember correctly. The etm is what sits on the passenger side fender under the hood in the black box correct?
They are at the location you discribed.
ETM is Electronic throttle module and it should be downstream of air filter plastic ribbed pipe where it connects to engine(as far as i remember)...but it's definitely on the air filter line on the engine.

The OP has a turbo C70 so the ETM will be located on the end of the long plastic intercooler hose under the intake manifold.
On turbos the air cleaner goes directly to turbo inlet via MAF.

Hulk, your ETM is a throttle module, it's the fly-by-wire equivalent of a throttle body. Instead of a cable, your throttle is opened electronically. Last stop for air into the intake manifold. ECUs are in the box with the cooling tube.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

If you swap out one from an auto chances are it won't work. You need one from the same engine AND transmission.

You just need another good used ETM, a Dice (you don't need Vida at all) and then you contact MVS member doublebug; he will do the rest.

Would it need to be C70? shouldn't any 1999, 70 series manual trans/HPT ETM work? (or LPT, I forgot which you have)
