98s70 t5 leaking cam seal
98s70 t5 leaking cam seal
Hello there all, and please forgive my ignorance! new to the forum and as an added handicap, not a very tech savvy/computer savvy person. My problem is that after a recent radiator replacement, in which all of the oil line connectors turned out to be shot, I switched to full synthetic oil and after driving the car a mere ten miles, lost an oil line, resulting in yet another fill of fresh oil, and I now am losing oil from the cam seals. I'm terrified that I will bungle up the job and ruin my engine. I know there must be a forum or discussion on replacing just these seals and all that will entail, but I find navigating the site and accessing pictures on my computer with a dreadfully slow and inconsistent internet connection is driving me nuts...help a fella out?

Thanks for the help. I had found this last week and thought I could find it when my new seals arrived to reference again, but had no luck doing so, like I stated...an idiot with a computer! The radiator and brake pads and rotor work ate my budget for now, so I won't even have the opportunity to look into the TB, WP, or any of the other possible repairs that would apparently be good and easy to do at this time, but just getting into this and the other recent work I've done, along with reading a variety of the info posted here on the site, is helping make me a lot more comfortable working on my poor old s70 with 223000 miles. Thank you again.

You need to service the PCV before spending time/$ on the cam seals. They seals will just blow out again if the PCV is clogged.

On another note about the computer. When you find a post that is helpful, hit the bookmark tab at the top of the page and you can always find the post that way. I have at least 40 different things bookmarked on my office computer for reference. Collect your money and do the things in order that is best for your Volvo. If it ain't breathing good, it ain't happy.

Another trick with bookmarks: sometimes too many bookmarks cause clutter on the browser.
Open a Word document, cut and past your favorite links (with a little note) such as:
- DIY Oil Change, then link to html.
Save the Word document as "Volvo bookmarks". This way you can have hundreds of bookmarks saved on a Word document w/o causing browser clutter.
Another trick, save all these links in an email "DRAFT" folder, don't send it, just save it as "email draft". This way you can access the links anywhere you want.
