We are doing a drain and fill on our 850 wagon and what came out is green, and we are wondering if this is the original HOAT coolant or not - was it probably replaced by the previous owner?
We are not doing a flush so some will be left behind when we top back up with Zerex G05
and we want it to be compatible.

I was mistaken on the original color.
The Zerex G-05 HOAT has an orange tint to it.

I thought the original Pentofrost coolant was blue, I could certainly be wrong. The color on G05 is fairly faint, I would call it yellowish orange. The green stuff is usually just plain old Prestone or some other house brand.

The Volvo OEM coolant is blue. Different coolant types should NOT be mixed. Go big or stay home. Fill with the green stuff or flush with distilled water and fill with whatever you are going with.
