1994 850 XC90 links on an 850?

Post by shaker_chi »

I was reading the post about the failure of the IPD heavy duty sway bar links. For the record, I've put about 40,000 miles on my set and have had no problem.......yet!! So I was looking at the comment section of the IPD website and in one of the posts someone wrote their mechanic installed the XC90 links on his vehicle. He didn't state specifically what he had, but it must have been an 850 or S/V70. Has anyone done this before? My S70 has 140,000 miles on it and was planning on replacing a lot of front suspension parts this summer. I assume the XC90 link would be a bit beefier and heavier due to the size of the vehicle.

I don't know, I don't recall it being discussed here. The spring seats are interchangeable but I don't know how much else is. If you try it please let us know.

Thanks Lee. I'll head to my local dealer this spring and ask my girl at the parts counter and maybe visually inspect the 2 side by side. I used the xc90 spring seats on my 850 about 50,000 miles ago and they have worked out just fine. The interchangeability of parts between the xc90 and P80s may be a worthwhile venture for me to look into. Specifically in regards to suspension parts, since the suv parts would logically be stronger.
