2001 v70 rear doors locked shut

Post by belskee »

My rear doors were locked shut on a t5 and couldn't find any solutions, I have an old air compresser that runs from the 12v cigarette lighter socket, cut it to length and used the adaptor on the inner and far outer metal pins in the connector on the lock, one lock jumped straight open but the other opened when I reversed tge polarity of the wires on the same 2 metal pins (inner and far outer) both doors now open and unpluged till I can replace the locks, I hope this post can be of some use to others with similar problems

Hi & welcome to the forum!

The rear doors going offline is a rather rare but nevertheless recurring problem on these cars.

In my case it happened after bringing the car in from -20C & washing it in our heated shop with lots of moisture condensing on the still cold surfaces in the interior, trunk lock & wiper went along with the rear door locks.
Resetting the codes "ghetto style" by disconnecting the battery brought everything back. Just remember, always put the ignition lock in position II to reconnect the battery or you'll set off airbag codes that can only be reset with VIDA.

While this doesn't have to be your problem, with both doors failing simultaneously I'd definitely give it a shot before taking doors apart or buying parts.

Good luck, Ben

Thank you for the welcome, I have learned alot of valuable info in a short amount of time thanks to this site or everyone on it I should say so many thanks before I continue.
I did try dc the battery but with no luck even thoughI have the doors open no I cant help wondering if its the locks to blame or something else causing a problem, the battery fitted is only 36ah so far to small, could this be having an effect on lock operations? Also the rear quater is smashed (fitted with volvo guard) could the break in the circuit also have an effect, plus fuel flap isn't currently fitted I might be barking up the wrong tree but could any of this be a route cause? Thanks again for the reply/welcome and thanks to those who have unknowingly already helped. Jim
