01 s80 T6 executive IDLE issues

Post by fayed0903 »

I recently purchased a S80 T6 executive with 121000 miles on it. I'm noticing in the morning while letting the car warm up it idles, almost like to wants to cut off, but doesn't. Once it warms up while I'm driving it's a sometimes little hesitant on take off, still idling from time to time, also if the car is parked and running after I've driven for a while it does the same thing, acts if it's going to cut off but doesn't. The only time I notice it doesn't do this is if I'm on the freeway at a steady speed. I'm hoping the car only needs a tune up. The car has been owned by two people, According to the Car fax the first owner was having it serviced regularly, the 2nd owner I'm not sure because it doesn't show much, other than it passed emissions every two years.PLEASE HELP.

Hi,
It can be caused by diffrent things and the only way is to check one by one starting from the simplest,
1) Check spark plugs clean or change if needed,
2) Clean Etm( Electronic throttle module) it can start to stick and prevent optimal fuel-air mix,
3) Check and replace air filter if needed,
4) Replace the fuel filter if it has not been replacet in the last 40000 miles ( it depends on fuel quality in your country),
5) Check engine coils for interruption,
6) Check and replace Etm if needed,
7) Check Oxygen sensors ( lamda sensors).

This is the way to trobleshoot if there is no error on the dash, if there is one than scan it and replace the faulty part.

THANKS,I'm no mechanic but this sounds as if it may need a tune up,according to what you stated. Also, engine service required light is on (Orange triangle).
