Seems the coolant temp sensor is normal. Tested over 1000 ohms cold and around 268 when warm. Gauge reads normal directly at 3 o'clock when warm as it always has.

Thinking back to when this started it was after the Seafoam treatment. Anyone ever had trouble after doing the Seafoam?

This indicates that ect sensor is bad.

They don't run long and you can barely hear them even on a really hot day and they always turns off after the engine is turned off.

I suggest a new thermostat(Wahler or Vernet) and OEM ect sensor,not aftermarket one.

Ok. Going after the ECT. From what I
m reading that could explain why my fuel mileage has dropped way down below 10 mpg at times and why the car runs so poorly. When I tested the sensor with my meter I read over 1000 ohms when cold but only momentarily and it would drop back to 1 on the meter which I guess means an open circuit. I tested it multiple times and every time it would flash something well over 1000 just for an instant and drop back to
1 on the meter. After warming the engine up I read something in the 200`s but would read steady. My dash gauge has been steady though. Maybe this conflicting signal has been confusing the ECU. Will purchase an OEM sensor and replace and report back. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have a 2000 V70 (with Denso mamagement) which runs the cooling fan often for 4-5 minutes after engine shut-off and gives great mileage and has a new ECT (less than 60k kilometres and aftermarket) Our Siemens managed 850 10 valve did the same thing on an OEM ECT. So that's not really a clue. Perhaps on a Bosch car????

However if your readings are not within spec absolutely go for the ECT as the culprit.

On my car cooling fans NEVER continue to run after turning off the engine.

The only time mine continued to run was when the ECT was bad.
