Are the ABS and Traction Control warning lights on by chance?

A bad ABS module can cause many of your symptoms. If the transmission really is slipping then it usually isn't a good thing. How does the transmission fluid look? The should be fairly clear and reddish pink in color. If it is dark and smells "burned" then the transmission may be on its way out.

Ive been doing some deep grinding (research) and well in the exact steps that has occured with everyone else concerning specificly the ABS module defect has occurd in the exact same way in detail! first thing that happend was he abs light i noticed would be on constantly for a long time thinking it was just a brake pad wearing out i just made that assumption ,but then after a while about a week ago i noticed slippage in the shifting and at same time the odometer dropped out ,and also after that the forward shift arrow light had come on which it never ever did that before ,Early on I had the assumption that the fluid level in the transmission was over filled (which in turn could do damage to the torkconverter ect) But found out that that isnt the case because the s70 has a check valve that prevents over filling the transmission, which was little relief But still back to square one,so i took the volvo and had the transmission flushed (g-tech machine) both ways and new fluid added, thinking maybe sludged clogged filter would cause problem also banding adjusted,But still It sliiped and so i began researching and found that the same details specificly to how these events took place had happened to others with the same vehicle year and model . Big relief to me knowing the transmission wasn,t the culprit ,But caused by the defected A.B.S Module as explained in forums and also at other foroums im a member of they talked about this remedy of pulling the module and accessing the circuit board and Re-soldering ,which is what Im trying to do now is to find out what it is on the circuit board that is corroded or that goes out ? because i cant afford to send it any wheres which they sent a link to a guy in califournia that services and repairs these modules his name is victor rocha

Be careful with which YouTube videos you encounter. I know of one where my dear friend Robert drilled some holes in the case and it turns out that that method really doesn't work. Here is my writeup on how to repair the module if you are good at soldering.

The membrane must be removed thoroughly for the repair of the cracked joints or you can make things worse.

There are many useful additions to my original crack at it so read through it and you can pick up some additional tips.

Victor Rocha can indeed repair your module but for a much better price and superb service I would suggest that you use Midwest ABS. That company is run by one of our very active members (MattyMoo) and he not only does a terrific job rebuilding and testing the modules he provides superb assistance, both through the forum and privately for his customers.

Here is a link to the Midwest ABS homepage.
