My wife mentioned that she occasionally gets an ABS and Tracs light on the "new" XC. I glanced at the module when I bought the car and it appears that it has been rebuilt but I have no idea who did it and I suspect that it will need another rebuild. I do have the module out of my '99 XC parts car on my desk and it is one that I rebuilt so I know it will hold up. My question is about programming. The ABS module is tied into the whole CAN bus system but I don't know if it is "married" to the car. Does anyone have experience with swapping the '99 and on modules? Do they need a software download to work?

Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
