I'm looking to do the timing belt on my 99 s70 base. Has anyone used any of these ebay kits?

No, and don't do it. You don't want aftermarket pulleys and you definitely don't want an aftermarket water pump unless it's a Hepu.

I agree with Matty. I used a Hepu water pump and aftermarket manual tensioner. After 5 hours and many attempts to get the timing correct, I finally figured out the alignment pin on the tensioner kept bending. Swapped it for an OE part and timing was completed first attempt!
As this is possibly one of the most crucial items preventing the engine going bang don't cheap out. I have just been looking at an OE supplier for my 06 XC (I think it uses the same parts) and from Tasca the pump kit was $109 and the Belt kit was $120 US. Both plus shipping ($20 approx. in the US with UPS). To me it is worth paying the extra for piece of mind.

thanks for the input guys...I bought the car in 2010 from the son of the original owner with 119k on the clock and since then have done some maintenance stuff, tuneup etc, only major work done was to do a complete suspension overhaul.i gave the car to my son a couple of years ago to commute back and forth to school and work and really hasn't had any problem with it until 2 weeks ago when it wouldn't start, just crank.i knew about the issue with immobilizer antenna ring and told him how to remove it and clean it and that solved the problem but I still had him take it to a mechanic to give it a once over and the guy said he looked at the timing belt and it was pretty old.i never got any service records with the car when I bought it and now it has 155k miles on it.because the person who had it before me was the original owner I assume the timing belt was done at least once so do you guys think I should do the valve seals, thermostat as well as the timing and water pump just to be on the safe side?

Timing belt, tensioner, idler pulley and water pump. You might as well do the t-stat since you'll have the coolant drained and be in that area anyway.

Valve stem seals is part of a major engine overhaul. No need to do that.
You may want to consider doing the heater core and PCV if it needs it.
