Hi guys, last week I got my first Volvo and I love it. As it is a 1998 car it is a secound hander and of course has some minor problems. I am trying to find as much as possible info on the car and am searching the web like crazy for a repair manual or some complicated users manual. All I managet to find so far is:
http://www.jimfishervolvo.com/pages/...40Contents.htm
Unfortunately it does not contain any information or picktures how to change some of the filters (air, oil, AC, etc.), how to make small or complicated repairs, etc. For instance I can not find any information on the web if the automatic transmission has any filter?
So, if anyone could help me finding such a manual I would appretiate.
Thanks.
The car is a 1998, S 40, 2.0 16 V, 103kw., automatic.
1998, S40, repair manual wanted

I don't think you're going to find a free download of what you're looking for. You do however have a few choices:
1. Buy a VADIS (Volvo's own) DVD disc on eBay. If you do this, make sure it has a key code to activate it.
2. Buy a subscription to your car's manual ($25 a year I believe) at http://www.alldata.com/
3. Buy the actual repair manuals from Volvo- but this is very very expensive...probably thousands of dollars.
4. Search forums like this one as well as specific S40 forums like http://s40concepts.net
If I were you, I would get a VADIS disc and search the forums (1 & 4). Depending the the car, Alldata is either really good or fairly shoddy....not sure how your car is handled by them.

Thnks a lot for the answer I'll see what I can find. Still you are right - most of the questions could be answered in the forums. Thanks.
